Since there's no purpose-built iPhone 5 mounts yet I was looking for something that would get the job done fairly cheaply until they are released in a few months. The U-Tree fit the bill and then some. The 'corddock' piece is built for a 30 pin connector but has a hole (referred to as the 'cable strain releif' in the instructions) just behind that which fits the lightning cable perfectly if you move one of the rubber bands from the 30 pin holder to the side of the smaller hole. The lightning cable end fits in snug enough against the rubber to hold it solidly when you dock and undock the phone, but not so hard that it's deforming the cable housing.

I mounted mine with the vent clip in the middle of the stalk, bent the top and bottom of the stalk back to touch the dash and the whole thing is rock solid. The top support arms work great if you move them both all the way left on their slider to clear the power button. I actually swivel the right one sideways to give some more side support. All it takes to dock and undock is a push against the top support arm(s) to slide it in/out of place. The only thing that's a little iffy is the headphone jack. There's room for a slim mini-plug beside the corddock support but a fat one would be pretty tight. I use bluetooth so I don't have to worry about it.

All in all I couldn't be happier. I don't think a purpose-built iPhone 5 mount could work much better, to be honest!

Update, 2/26/13: The rubber bands I was using to hold the lightning cable eventually all broke. They weren't really designed for that application so I'm not changing my rating. Still a great value for the price.
