I spent time both online and in stores trying to find an armband for an iPhone 3GS so I could take it running and make use of the maps and stopwatch when in an unfamiliar city. After reading many reviews, most said it wouldn't stay in place while running or allowed too much sweat to seep through to the device inside. At first I was concerned that this product was for iPhones "and others" or something of the sort, but the fit is snug and it stayed firmly on my upper arm without sliding for two of my weekly (longer) runs. The only downside is that the front plastic doesn't fit completely snugly on the face of the iPhone so if you want to tap the side of the screen you have to get a small slack part of the clear screen out of the way (or take the phone out completely). However, manipulating the 3GS touchscreen through the cover otherwise works well.
Given the quality of all other products I found, I would highly suggest you put this near the top of your list.
