I looked at all the iPhone stands on Amazon and it appeared to be a choice between something inexpensive (and in many cases cheap) but flimsy or something made of solid metal that was a bit pricey. Then I stumbled across this thing. From the reviews and product description I got the hope it was well made and the price was certainly reasonable so I took a gamble. This is one of the few times (for me) where a gamble paid off.

UPDATE: I used this stand on a cross country flight. It kept my iPhone supported and steady on the tray table the whole time so I could watch videos in relative comfort. Not the same comfort as the growing number of lucky people who have iPads mind you, but comfortable none the less :) .

Also, in revisiting this review and scanning some of the others there is something which I feel should be pointed out. This stand is advertised as being for the "iPhone, iPod, & More". It appears that for the "& Mores" of the world, well, your mileage may very. Check the other reviews and see if anyone had problems with your non-Apple device and this stand.

Update a year later: My iCarpus stand is still going strong and I take it whenever I travel. However, I recently stumbled on a lower cost, less portable alternative if you want to leave the "stand" in on place. Check out the Rolodex Black Mesh Business Card Holder (22251) along with the review I provided for it. Now I keep the iCarpus in my briefcase and the "Card Holder" on my desk.

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews, accompanied by detailed videos, can take the place of first-hand experiences that are often lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and try to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and the video at least entertaining.
